The 4938-hectare Glor concession is located 15 km northeast of the city of Caborca in Sonora, on the west flank of Cerro El Alamo. Paved secondary highway passing through Puerto del Alamo crosses the eastern end of the Glor concession. The El Chanate open pit gold mine is located about 15 km east-southeast of the concession.
Historic work has been confined to four main zones, two of which include a cluster of old mine prospects: Liebre zone, San Jose zone, Cinco Amigos, and San Francisco-Bolina zone. The prospect development consists of numerous pits, shafts, and tunnels in the south side of Cerro El Alamo except San Jose which is located in shallow pediment cover. The old workings targeted gold in high angle structures (veins) seeking higher grade material.
Geology
The geologic setting in the Glor concession area is almost totally represented by a sequence of sedimentary and volcano-sedimentary rocks locally deformed and correlatable with the Jurassic El Batamote sedimentary complex of clastic rocks. This complex of clastic sedimentary and volcanic rocks display evidence of elevated dips and bedding plane thrusting that is concurrent with compressive structures of the Megashear fold thrust belt. Small andesitic-composition intrusives with porphyritic texture from the Tertiary have been also locally observed. Structures observed in the field consists of a series of faults with NW 20° strikes and high angle dips to the NE and SW, which represent the regional fracturing system that controls mineralized structures.
Exploration Update
Pediment has completed one campaign of geochemical soil sampling totaling about 340 samples. The program was carried out on the southern part of the concession covering about half of the concession as well as specific rock chip sampling in of the old main mine workings and prospecting pits. Soil sampling was completed on widely spaced sampling with sample intervals on 100 meters in east-west oriented lines. The lines are 500 meters apart, with three long lines and three short lines. The highest value obtained in soils is 151 ppb gold located near the center of the concession. Samples from the old mine workings show values ranging from 1 and 7 g/t of gold whereas the veinlet zones show gold anomalies from 100 to 500 ppb.
